Getting started
Vitruvius is a desktop app for macOS and Windows. Your projects live in the cloud, so you can sign in on any computer and carry on.
1. Install
Download the installer for your computer. Alpha builds are not yet signed, so macOS and Windows ask you to confirm the first launch; the download page shows exactly what to click.
2. Sign in
Open the app and choose Log in. Your browser opens this website, where you enter your email and the 6-digit code we send you. Then press Continue and the browser hands you back to the app. If the browser cannot open the app, copy the code shown on the page (it looks like VIT-XXXX-XXXX) and paste it into the app.
If you have an invite code such as ALPHA10, redeem it on your account page.
3. Create a project
Choose New project and give it a name and an address. Fill in the Brief: client, budget, constraints, style notes. The agent reads it at the start of every session.
Drop in what you already have: a DWG or DXF of the existing building, a PDF survey, site photos. See file formats for what each one becomes.
4. Draw
Press W for the wall tool, click to start, type a length such as 3600 and press Enter. Doors (D) and windows (N) snap into the wall they are placed on. Rooms (R) measure themselves. The full list is on the shortcuts page.
5. Ask the agent
Open the agent panel with Ctrl+J (Cmd+J on a Mac), pick a mode and ask. Start in Ask mode on a real project: every change waits for your Accept or Reject. Agent modes explains the other two.
6. Walk through it
Switch to Walk, click into the view and use WASD or the arrow keys. Esc leaves walk mode.
